rightsworld.com and NetRead Join in Strategic Alliance - Technology Leaders for Publishing Industry Converge

(New York, NY and San Francisco, CA - September 26, 2000) - rightsworld.com, the leading marketplace for publishing rights, and NetRead, a Web-based marketing infrastructure provider for the publishing industry, today announced a strategic alliance between the companies. In the alliance, rightsworld.com and NetRead will promote each other's Web-based tools for the publishing industry. The alliance marks a convergence of companies dedicated to the advancement of technical infrastructure in book publishing.

Both of NetRead's principle products, JacketCaster and EventCaster, will be promoted on rightsworld.com. JacketCaster allows publishers to update their web and print catalog information with wholesalers and online retailers. EventCaster enables publishers, agents, and authors to broadcast literary events to print and online editors. "NetRead's products save time and money for publishers," said Nick Bogaty, President at rightsworld.com. "I am impressed how they have streamlined formerly cumbersome processes that publishers have been forced to do."

NetRead, in turn, will market rightsworld.com, the leading marketplace for book publishing rights. rightsworld.com allows publishers, agents, and authors to close rights deals efficiently and inexpensively. "The rightsworld.com and JacketCaster functionality complement each other very nicely," said Pete Alcorn, CEO of NetRead. "We want to do everything we can to integrate the power of these tools, and this alliance marks the first step."

The companies will gradually integrate their products in order to offer publishers a suite of interoperable web-based tools for marketing books worldwide.
